What Is a Circuit Breaker?
A circuit breaker is an automatically operated electrical switch designed to protect a circuit from damage caused by overcurrent, overload, or short circuit. When it detects a fault, it interrupts the flow of electricity — preventing wire overheating, equipment damage, and fire hazards. Unlike a fuse, a circuit breaker can be reset and reused after it trips, which is why breakers are the standard choice in modern residential, commercial, and industrial electrical systems.

Types of Circuit Breakers We Supply

Insulated Case Circuit Breakers (ICCB)

GFCI & AFCI Breakers

Molded Case vs. Insulated Case Circuit Breakers: How to Choose
The right circuit breaker type depends mainly on the amperage and application. For most projects up to roughly 1,000A — residential panels, small commercial buildings, and light industrial equipment — a molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) is the standard, cost-effective choice. For large plants, critical facilities, switchgear-mounted systems, or applications needing high short-circuit capacity and easy field maintenance, an insulated case circuit breaker (ICCB) is the better fit, since it is built for 800A–5000A loads and allows components to be serviced without replacing the entire unit.

Molded case circuit breakers for commercial installations
Molded case circuit breakers (MCCBs) are the most commonly specified breaker type on commercial projects. Getting the right one requires matching four things: frame size, ampere rating, interrupting rating (AIC), and trip unit type.
Send us the one-line diagram, the panel schedule, or the existing breaker nameplate and we will cross-reference against available product. If the specified breaker is discontinued, we will identify current equivalents and flag where the substitution changes anything electrically.
What we need from you to quote accurately
- Frame size and ampere rating
- Interrupting rating required at the point of installation
- Voltage and number of poles
- Trip unit type, thermal-magnetic or electronic
- Any accessories: shunt trip, auxiliary contacts, under-voltage release
- Quantity and required on-site date
A photograph of the existing breaker nameplate is usually enough if the drawings are not to hand.
