ATEK Distribution’s President, Jeff Anderson, was just named to the Leadership Council of the National Small Business Association (NSBA)! You can read about it here in this Press Release.
Jeff is a recognized leader in the small business community, and he’s looking forward to bringing his message to the people who need to hear it most: Congress.
And his message is small business advocacy, as he plans to take up issues such as tax reform, regulatory restraint, and access to capital for small businesses, especially those that embrace green technology.
ATEK is already doing the right thing by bringing green solutions in the form of supplying electrical, EV charging, and solar products. Responsibility to the environment has fallen on the private sector, and Jeff is leading that charge in more ways than one.

ATEK Distribution, LLC, under the leadership of President Jeff Anderson, is taking significant strides in empowering future leaders through its commitment to providing scholarships for young JROTC members. Recognizing the value of service and leadership, ATEK Distribution has partnered with the National Veteran Business Development Council’s (NVBDC) 50 State Scholarship Program to help JROTC cadets achieve their educational goals.
Jeff relates the story of how he learned about the cadet’s story:
“A colleague of the mine, deeply committed to supporting young cadets in their educational pursuits, reached out with an earnest request. He hoped to secure a scholarship for a remarkable young lady who stood out among her peers.”
“Could you see if there’s a scholarship available for one of our outstanding cadets who is college-bound?” he inquired. This year, they had a particularly exceptional candidate in Cadet Captain Ronja Wagner, whose achievements were nothing short of extraordinary. Ronja had been accepted to attend the University of Alaska Fairbanks, a testament to her hard work and dedication.”
“Her list of accomplishments was impressive. Ronja served as the Commanding Officer of the Cadet Corps, demonstrating exemplary leadership skills. She was also the VFW Voice of Democracy Alaska State Winner, an honor that recognized her articulate expression and civic understanding. Her peers and mentors named her the Cadet of the Year for the State of Alaska, further cementing her status as a role model.”
“In addition to her academic and leadership accolades, Ronja had secured acceptance to four different colleges and universities, providing her with several promising paths for her future. She was the Precision Captain for two teams and had been named the Best Female Shooter in the JROTC division for the State of Alaska. Her precision team even won bronze for the state, showcasing her ability to excel both individually and as a team leader.”
“My colleague expressed profound gratitude for the scholarship program, acknowledging how it allowed cadets to pursue higher education. He highlighted the significance of having the only U.S. Marine Corps JROTC program in Alaska and how reassuring it was to know that a fellow Marine in the lower 48 states was equally committed to higher education.”
A former United States Marine Corps officer, Jeff emphasizes the importance of this initiative: “Our mission at ATEK Distribution extends beyond providing quality electrical solutions. We are dedicated to giving back to our community by supporting young individuals who embody the values of service and leadership. By providing scholarships to JROTC members, we aim to foster the development of future leaders who will continue to serve our country with distinction.”
The NVBDC’s scholarship program is designed to provide financial support to students within veteran families who are enrolled in JROTC programs across the United States. These scholarships help cover the costs of their education, enabling them to pursue their academic and professional aspirations without financial burden.
One recent scholarship recipient, Ronja Wagner, a cadet at West Valley High School, aspires to major in Physics and work in the field of space exploration. Another awardee, Ronald G. Carley II, also from West Valley High School, aims to pursue a degree in civil engineering and eventually obtain an officer’s commission in the U.S. Marine Corps through the NROTC program.

The VIP START program opens doors to government contracting opportunities for ATEK Distribution
Minneapolis, 06/21/2024 – ATEK Distribution LLC recently completed the Veteran Institute Procurement (VIP) START Program, a comprehensive training and certification program that helps Veteran-owned businesses strengthen their ability to win government contracts and do business with both military and civilian agencies.
On June 13, 2024, ATEK Distribution LLC was one of 51 businesses from 19 states to graduate from the Veteran Institute for Procurement (VIP) START Program.
“I am extremely fortunate to have been selected to attend and graduate from the VIP START program. I do not know of a better setting to be taught and given the tools needed to work with the federal government. The networking and partnering opportunities provided will carry on for years to come.”
The first of its kind in the nation, VIP START is facilitated by subject matter experts from industry and government with a goal of increasing the participants’ ability to win and maintain government contracts. VIP START participants receive hands-on market-based instruction that helps establish best business practices for federal government contracting. There are over 20 topics taught, including law, accounting, insurance, human resources, marketing, and proposals.
“We are honored to give back to the men and women who served our country by providing them with the tools they need to succeed as government contractors,” said Barbara Ashe, President of the Montgomery County Chamber Community Foundation. “We hope this training fosters their success as businesses and employers.”
VIP START is a three-day, 27-hour comprehensive certification program. Participants must be a C-level leader in a Veteran-owned small business operating for at least one year with one year of revenue generation; owner must be a W-2 in their company or full-time employee and spend 100% of their time in their business. VIP START is fully funded by the Montgomery County Chamber Community Foundation, partnerships with SBA, Lockheed Martin, the State of Maryland, and VIP sponsors. VIP START is offered at no cost to participants.

When it comes to the health and safety of construction workers, things like tips for drinking more water, and how to keep cool on a hot day come in handy, but for experienced professionals, it also means having the right gear.
Job sites come in many forms, and each comes with its own challenges for worker safety. If they’re indoors the temperature and ventilation needs to be regulated, and whether that means making it warmer or colder will obviously require different equipment.
So whether your workers are indoors, outdoors, have unique power requirements, or if they’re using safety harnesses on elevated work platforms, here are some tips for gear to help with job site safety.
Safety in the Space: Heating, Ventilation, and AC
When studs are bare, the air flows through construction sites nicely. But when walls go up, they start closing in fast. In these types of environments your workers are likely geared up and wearing all sorts of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE), and if it’s in a warm climate in the summer, you’ll need some methods to beat the heat.
AC at a job site
Of all the human inventions that are designed to cool us down there is no greater marvel than AC. If it’s available to teams and can be used effectively on jobs sites then there is no substitute. However, since walls aren’t always up, and roofs aren’t always built, AC doesn’t always make sense. In those cases, industrial fans are a great method to beat the heat.
Heating a job site
During winter or cold climate jobs, however, heat may be desired. Heat may also be desired if drying is necessary for paint or sheetrock. The most common heaters on job sites are propane heaters. But large amounts of propane aren’t always available, and in this case, an electric heater may be a better choice. They tend to have more power too and are better for bigger jobs. And for the biggest jobs, a heat pump with a detachable kit of supply ducts works wonders.
This type of system is large and expensive, but can also be used for AC, and may be necessary to keep workers safe. And when it comes to safety while heating and cooling a job site, nothing is more important than ventilation.
Ventilation of a job site
The leading authority on ventilation requirements for job site safety is the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). OSHA provides guidance on a number of fronts, and not only trains job site managers in general industry, maritime, and construction standards, but they also teach them how to spot hazards.
General ventilation is the most common and simply focuses on moving fresh air from the outside to the job site. Local ventilation systems are a bit more complicated as they typically remove hazardous air, or limit hazardous air.
Safety in Equipment: Electrical Boxes, Hardware Cabinets, and Network Rack Cabinets
When it comes to electricity, safety at job sites is of paramount importance. Your certified electricians will need to take precautions that are outlined by OSHA, but beyond the gear that’s on their person, here is some electrical equipment that can be implemented to keep job sites safer.
Electric junction boxes
Electrical socket boxes and electrical junction boxes are essentially the same thing, as their purpose is to enclose wire connections. The National Electrical Code (NEC) provides guidance on what type of boxes are best for different situations, and how best to pair them with matching covers.
Hardware Cabinet
Hardware cabinets are essential for most electrical companies, as there can be no end to the shapes and sizes of circuits, tools, and other hardware. Having everything organized and ready to go saves a lot of time, and prevents critical errors from occurring. They’re also an added measure of security as they help prevent theft.
Network rack cabinet
Preventing theft on the job site will also be a goal if you have servers or other expensive computer equipment on site. Network rack cabinets can help negate this risk, and come in various sizes to support single server racks, multiple server rack shelves, or a series of network rack shelves.
Personal Safety: Fall Arrest Harnesses and Safety Harness Belts
Safety for construction workers has a lot to do with the equipment that they carry and use on their own bodies. Again, OSHA is a great authority for setting guidelines on PPE for construction site safety, but this section will mainly cover a couple of different kinds of harnesses that construction workers can use on site.
Safety harness belt
Safety harness belts are preferred by many workers because they don’t go around the torso like full body safety harnesses. Of course, the job site will determine which one is the best to use, as preference matters very little when it comes to safety. Safety harness belts typically come with one or two D rings to hold the belt and worker in place.
Fall safety harness
A fall safety harness, or a fall arrest system prevents workers from falling on incomplete or moveable work surfaces. They also come with many parts, as the main components include a body harness, anchorage, and a connector. Connectors come in many different forms, and depending on the job site, you’ll need to make decisions about whether a lanyard is sufficient, or perhaps a deceleration device.
Job site safety equipment comes in all shapes and sizes, and serves a number of purposes for construction worker safety.
